CiaoTalk uses open standards and can use any SIP device to be configured. This means that you can purchase standard SIP telephones or use Softphones that are open. Why bother with closed applications that have proprietary protocols such as Syke™ that requires the use of a Skpe™ device when you can have your system using standard software or equipment.

When you call in network, there are no telephone charges, and you can find your friends in the telephone directory unless they have an unlisted number. Yes, you can have an unlisted number in the directory and keep your privacy. There are options for voicemail and call forwarding also and even E911 service.

If you decide to get a plan with a local telephone number, you'll find how to look at your billing statements, how to forward you telephone and other information to use the service.
